Sara Felderman is a pastel artist, currently living and working in Los Angeles. She recently graduated from Rhode Island School of Design where she studied painting and printmaking with a concentration in wildlife conservation. Sara also had the opportunity to intern with Ai Weiwei in Berlin.
Her painting practice centers around her love of animals, drawing inspiration from the innate desire we as humans have to feel connected to
nature. Her work has explored a variety of anthropogenic impacts on the environment and the relationship between humans and animals, ranging
from climate change to our symbiotic relationship with domesticated animals.
She is currently taking pet portrait commissions, capturing the love exchanged between animal and human. Her style is realism, depicting as much detail as she can, from the texture of the fur to the light reflecting in the eyes. She uses this attention to detail as a moment to connect with and cherish the subjects depicted in her drawings.
